Verizon Wireless engaged Sturges Word Communications to focus on its public relations and media relations efforts in the State of Kansas and the Kansas City metro area as part of its Midwest area’s public relations team. The specific charge was to publicize information about Verizon’s products, corporate social responsibility program, community involvement efforts and its network services through traditional media, social media and influencer engagement.
The public relations campaign that resulted was a year-long effort to tell Verizon’s story and highlight the value of a consistently fast and reliable network.
To execute the public relations campaign, Sturges Word developed a database of network-related news items that could be pitched to media and influencers throughout the year, as well as third-party reports that could strengthen the network message. The plan included exclusive pitching of a behind-the-scenes look at where and how Verizon’s network stays up and running. Other tactics included using PR Newswire and securing customer testimonials.
