SWC’s Fast Five

Another week down! We’re back with the second installment of our new series, SWC’s Fast Five, bringing you five articles, songs, videos or websites to keep you up-to-date and entertained without overwhelming you. This week, we hope to bring a smile to your face with some lighter topics.

So, here’s this week’s Fast Five:

1 National Volunteer Week

This week is National Volunteer Week, and we want to say a big THANK YOU to all the veterans that are volunteering in the fight against COVID-19. Check out our client’s, The Veterans of Foreign Wars, submission to the Kansas City Star reminding us of the active role veterans play in the fight against the virus.

2 Still haven’t gotten your stimulus check? Here’s what you need to know

According to the IRS, the first wave of direct deposits have been made, and paper checks are in the mail. If you want to know when you’ll receive your stimulus check (if you haven’t already), here’s how to find out.

3 Local restaurants offering delivery/curbside pickup

As a local business, we know how important it is to shop small and support other local businesses. If you live in the Kansas City area and want to support KC restaurants, here is a great database of restaurants, breweries, wineries and distilleries offering delivery or curbside pickup.

4 Handwashing song of the week

The CDC recommends scrubbing your hands for at least 20 seconds – or the length of your favorite song’s chorus. We just found your new favorite hand washing song.

5 Global Citizen’s ‘One World: Together at Home’

Last week, Global Citizen’s historic broadcast, One World: Together at Home, raised a total of $127 million, providing $55 million to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund and $72 million to front-line responders. If you missed the at-home concerts, conversations with global leaders and tributes to scientists, health care professionals and other essential workers, you can stream it here.
